You've Been Memed
I’ve had the pleasure, or possibly the misfortune, of being tagged by Mama Junkyard into doing a meme… I’ll get you for this, woman. You’ll pay! ;-)
Anyway, here goes.
The rules:
- Post six weird facts/habits about yourself. These cannot be used against you later on.
- At the bottom name the six people you will tag next.
- Leave them a comment to let them know they’ve been tagged and to read your blog.
Fact number 1: I was once in a relationship for about 45 minutes!
In my third year at university I had this thing for one of the American exchange students, called Liz, and I think she had a thing for me. One night me, her and one of her friends went to the college bar for a drink and we got into a long conversation (can’t remember what it was about, as I was a bit drunk), when all of a sudden she turns round and says, “That’s it, I’m finishing with you. You never listen to what I say.” I was a bit confused but went along with it anyway. I stormed out of the bar and went back to my room. The next day I was in the kitchen when one of the students said something like “Liz is really upset with you. What have you done to her?” I explained what happened and then realised that she thought we’d started going out with each other, but I was completely oblivious to it (not for the first time, I’ve missed the signals women have sent out to me…).
Unfortunately, we both had a rule where we don’t get back together after a break-up, so nothing ever happened – also it would have been weird after the big deal it appeared to everyone else in the bar – but we were still in contact until she went back to the US. Wonder what she’s doing know? Wonder if she’s got over me?
Fact number 2: I like clothes shopping!
We all know that most men don’t like clothes shopping – we get bored very easily and don’t see the point of wandering around a load of places, only to end up back where we started, buying the first thing we tried on.
I guess the reason I like it is that I’ve always been “hip ‘n’ trendy”, “down with the kids”… that or it gives me an excuse to ogle the female customers and members of staff (men are bastards!). Of course it’s always good when other people buy clothes for you (thanks, mum!)!
Fact number 3: I don’t go on protests very often
Despite what you may read on this thing, I’m not as politically active as I seem – the one on Thursday was my first ever protest! I, to my subsequent embarrassment, didn’t go on the anti-war marches at the end of 2002 and the start of 2003. This was due to the fact I was of the opinion that we were going to bomb the shit out of Iraq, and a few million members of he public weren’t going to stop our Dear Leader, if anything it’d just make him more determined. I didn’t go to the ones for Lebanon a few weeks ago either, but that was due to me not being aware of it. I did try and to go the pro-Israel demonstration in north London when they were bombing the shit out of Lebanon, but the Tube was fucked and couldn’t get up there (no, I wasn’t going to support it, I was going to go and take and post pictures of those sick bastards.)
Fact number 4: I don’t watch TV
Ever since I’ve moved down here, I’ve noticed that the amount of TV I watched had dropped each month, down to a point where the only time I stick the TV on is to look at teletext or watch a DVD (apart from yesterday when I watched the England and Ireland games). It might just be the fact that it’s summer and so TV goes to shit anyway, but I think the fact there’s a lot more to do down here coupled with my laptop have eliminated my need for TV…
Fact number 5: I seem to have more luck with Chinese, Japanese or Korean girls than white girls…
Maybe a scrawny white guy with glasses is considered the ultimate for them… or maybe they’re turned on by a Lancashire accent (well, someone has to be!) Not that I’m complaining! ;-)
Fact number 6: I got more interviews down in the Village than back oop t’North
It’s strange really, it’s not that there are more jobs down here – maybe there are, but that isn’t relevant here, as I applied for more places back home – it’s just that they seemed to want me a lot more. I must have had about 10 interviews within a few weeks, only one of which was in Manchester, with 8 in London and one out in Basingstoke. Obviously, this meant it cost me a lot of money in train fares, but thankfully I was able to buy cheap tickets on t’internet and have a Young Person’s Railcard (£20/yr with up to 33% off, fantastic value! Just a pity that I’m in the 1st year in which I can have one)
The people I nominate are $2/day, Chicken Yoghurt, Europhobia, Not Little England, The Nether-World and Obsolete. I would nominate SXSE, but he doesn’t have comments on his blog.

This is all very interesting and I will have to go home and work on mine, although I don't think that I have 6 people I can nominate. Hmm.
So, I can not use this information against you, but I would like to comment: 1) how many American exchange students did you date, huh?
and 2) I always thought that the Lancashire accent was *really* sexy. Honestly.
1. None, just one-night stands & stuff like what I said...
2. Awww... makes me feel all gooey inside :-) You know where I am if you want to hear it... Guess that explains answer 1! ;-)
